Thames21 is a leading UK waterway charity, working with communities to improve rivers, canals, ponds and lakes for people and wildlife. Their remit includes improving water quality within our rivers. As such, sustainable urban drainage is a key component in the fight against pollution, capturing and cleaning rainwater where it falls; before entering the catchment.

Greysmith Associates were engaged by Thames21 to design proposals for a rain garden at Dale Court flats in Hornsey, north London. The new system takes water from the roof of the building and slows the flow by first entering a rain garden constructed within the curtilage of the site. This will help to filter rainwater that enters the river Moselle catchment as well as biodiversity benefits. The project was completed in March 2016.
