Riverside Gardens is a small public park on the southern side of the River Thames at Erith. Despite the stunning riverside location the vegetation within the park reduces visibility of the river from the adjacent street. High flood defences also reduce connectivity to the river.
This rapid proposal sought to raise the level of the park itself and intoduce new paths between street and riverside (paths currently run parallel to the river). This sets up a series of ‘compartments’ into which fields of planting could be introduced over time, giving better seasonal interest and variety with many opportunities for local community input.
